City of Kingston
Location: Elder Street South Park, Clarinda.

The large scale mural celebrates the natural landscape of Kingston and incorporates snow gum sprigs, hop wattle, hardenbergia violacea rosea, galahs, Victorian common heath and a noisy miner bird.

This area of Bunurong Country is associated with gathering, resting and ceremony, and I was honoured to have been given permission to reference elements in my work. Shared cultural narratives highlight the significance of the five apical ancestors of the Bunurong nation which are represented by five vibrant blue dots or waterholes and five galahs.

A smaller wall showcases pink common heath and a native noisy miner.

Created for the new Elder Street South Reserve in Clarinda, this area was once a large landfill site. Careful management and rehabilitation of the land has been undertaken and today a new park and natural landscaping is open to the public.

A big thank you to the @kingstoncouncil arts and projects team, @mayorhadisaab and his colleagues, and to @bildlandscapes for having us on site with @lantrak__.
Galahs based on reference photos by Imogen Warren, Andrea Izzotti and Clint Steegman.
