Billanook College, Part One, 2024
Dawn light through the ranges: an eastern spinebill, eucalyptus, wattle and colour.
I was honoured to be an artist in residence at Billanook College recently, completing two major public mural works and guiding students through a third to shroud their arts building facades.
This wall was the first that I completed, celebrating the morning light that glows through leaves in Mooroolbark at that time of day - a moment of quiet before the busyness starts. The silhouettes of an emperor gum moth and white napped honey-eater are also present, and both myself and the students have used these silhouettes to connect the other walls and ground them in place.
A huge thank you to @brettferrysart (an incredible artist in his own right) for inviting me to be a part of @billanook_college_arts for a few weeks.
